Alex Pereira is taking advantage of his break from competing and gaining muscle mass. Tom Aspinall commented on the Brazilian’s latest video.
Alex Pereira fought his last fight in March. At that time, the Brazilian lost the championship belt of the welterweight division to Magomed Ankalaev. Shortly thereafter, it became apparent that the UFC star had quickly gained weight.
Alex Pereira posted a video in recent days showing that his weight had already exceeded 110 kilograms. Of course, discussions immediately heated up about whether Pereira would make a similar move to the one he made when he lost his middleweight division title when he moved up a category.
Tom Aspinall the heavyweight category champion addressed the video and photos posted by Poatan on social media. The Englishman expressed his opinion on the subject.
– If I were in his position I would want to regain the welterweight category belt. But I’m not, so I don’t know what he’s planning. As for his weight, I think he and his team know well what they are doing. They know how to hit the headlines, which is good. I, on the other hand, know that many welterweights get to that many pounds with their weight. Also, I don’t know myself. Maybe he’s just kidding himself like that, or maybe he’ll move up to heavyweight.
Tom Aspinall pointed out that larger fighters in the welterweight division often regularly reach weight, similar to that of Pereira at the moment. The Englishman is not sure if Poatan is heading to the heavyweight category however, he admitted that it is a possibility.
