Alex Pereira spoke out on potential training with Jon Jones. It would be a collaboration between the two UFC champions.

Alex Pereira will return to the octagon this Saturday, March 8. The Brazilian will defend his welterweight division belt in a bout with Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 313. Many experts and UFC fighters believe that this will be the biggest text of Poatan’s career.

Alex Pereira gave an interview to Donagh Corbyof the BloodyElbow website. During the lengthy conversation, the UFC welterweight champion was, among other things, asked about potential training with Jon Jones. The excellent kickboxer made it clear that at this point this kind of collaboration between the two current UFC champions is not an option.

– I honestly think it doesn’t make much sense. Even when I mentioned possible fights in the heavyweight category people were quick to link it to Jon Jones. Fans started speculating.

– That’s why I wouldn’t want to train with him now. Because if we were to face each other later in the octagon then people would have a reason to talk and criticize. Also at the moment I don’t, while if we fought a fight and only later were to train together I don’t see any contraindication. Why not?

Alex Pereira indicated that if there was to be a fight between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall he would like to sit in the front row right next to the octagon.

– I’m not saying that I would analyze this fight, but I would like to see it up close. Of course, every fight in the heavyweight category is exciting. When you put Jon Jones against Tom Aspinall, it’s a very exciting fight. That’s why I want to see it, simply as a fan.
