Alex Pereira has revealed that he is plagued by health problems. A month after his fight with Khaled Rountree, the Brazilian still has pain in his hand.
Alex Pereira defended his welterweight championship belt at the UFC 307 gala. This event took place on October 5, so it’s safe to say that a month has passed since Pereira’s fight with Khalil Rountree. Unfortunately, in a recent interview with the Brazilian podcast Podpah, the popular Poatan delivered some disturbing news.
All fans of the Brazilian are well aware that the UFC welterweight champion has repeatedly struggled with foot injuries after fights in the octagon. Now, however, things are different. Alex Pereira revealed.
– I suffered a hand injury in the fourth round when I delivered straight punches. I felt pain at that time. I thought for sure I had suffered a fracture, in fact this hand hurts until now. It doesn’t hurt nonstop however when I clench my fist I feel pain.
– The best part is that I was hitting him and I saw that it was working and I was gaining the upper hand. I continued and at one point I hit him in the forehead and my hand immediately hurt (laughs).
Although Magomed Ankalaev’s camp pumped the balloon hard for a clash with Pereira at UFC 310 thanks to information provided by the champion himself, we know that he doesn’t want to return to the octagon so soon.
