Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopes will meet in the main event of the UFC 325 gala in Sydney. At stake in the rematch will, of course, be the UFC featherweight championship belt. The favorite will be the experienced host representative, for whom this may be one of the last opportunities to fight in front of his home audience.
Alex Volkanovski defeated Diego Lopes in his last appearance in April 2025. Unsurprisingly, the popular Volk will not enter the cage for the second time this year, despite the fact that there is no shortage of contenders ready to fight the Australian. Most likely, the UFC’s decision was determined by the fact that UFC 325 will be held in Australia, and at the moment there is no other champion from Australia or New Zealand to grace the event.
Diego Lopes fought a very strong bout with Jean Silva after losing to Volkanovski. Born in Brazil, but living permanently in Mexico, Diego knocked out the representative of the Fighting Nerds team. After the September performance, the fighter took a short break, however, he openly spoke about being ready for the next big challenges.
The Volkanovski vs Lopes fight has been contracted for five rounds at the 66 kilogram limit. The winner of this clash will probably face Movsar Evloev or Leron Murphy in the second half of 2026.
