Unfortunately, bad news has reached us related to the blockbuster UFC 308 in Abu Dhabi. Alexander Volkov has picked up an injury that will rule him out of his fight with Ciryl Gane.
French portal La Sueur reported that experienced Russian Alexander Volkov will not appear at the UFC 308 gala in Abu Dhabi. The French followed with interest any information about “Drago”, as he was supposed to be the opponent of Ciryl Gane.
According to initial leaks, the skirmish between Volkov and Gane is to be moved to December’s UFC 310 gala. However, nothing has been officially confirmed so far, and it is possible that UFC matchmakers will decide on a different solution.
Much may depend here not only on when the Russian will be ready, but also on whether Ciryl Gane will want to extend his break from the octagon for another two months. Bon Gamin fought his last bout in September 2023, and will have to choose whether what matters to him is his desire for a quicker comeback, or whether it’s more important to fight an opponent he has already defeated once in the past.
For the time being, the fans who were rubbing their hands with the thought of a fight between fighters ranked second and third in the heavyweight category ranking may be the most unhappy with the developments.
