Amir Albazi will return to the octagon at UFC Edmonton, the fighter said about his recovery from heart and neck surgeries.

Amir Albazi will appear in the evening fight of the UFC event in Edmonton, Canada. Albazi will face Brandon Moreno in a bout at the top of the flyweight category. The Moreno vs Albazi clash will be the evening fight of Saturday’s event.

The protagonists of the main event met with journalists during the media day before the gala. For Amir Albazi it was an opportunity to talk about his year and a half break from competing. The Iraqi was eager to answer journalists’ questions. At one point, Albazi candidly described the health situation he was in.

– Before the fight with Kai Kara-France, I had some health problems. After the duel I went for a check-up and it turned out that I had supraventricular tachycardia. This is such a medical name, they explained to me that it consists of my heart beating irregularly above normal. Once my heart rate jumped to 239, I just had to undergo heart surgery.

– Later I was to face Brandon in Mexico. During the preparation, my hand suddenly refused to obey. I couldn’t deliver a punch, in fact I couldn’t even lift it up. I trained in spite of this, but in the end, after an x-ray, my doctor banned me from training. I went from office to office. Finally, the UFC doctors became aware of my situation and withdrew me from the fight and immediately scheduled me for surgery. After the surgery, I was told that I was close to paralysis.

Albazi has made no secret of the fact that he is very happy to return to competition. At the end of his interview with reporters, Amir admitted that he is happy to be fighting in the main even and will be able to prove his quality in a clash at the top of the division.
