Anthony Hernandez submitted Roman Dolidze in the evening bout of the UFC Vegas 109 gala, and with this victory the American joined the fray for the belt.
The UFC Vegas 109 gala took place in the middle of the night overseas, another smaller event held at the UFC Apex facility. The fight of the evening featured Anthony Hernandez and Roman Dolidze, fighters ranked 10th and 9th respectively in the UFC‘s middleweight division.
Anthony Hernandez struggled to make weight however, in the end he managed to meet the limit. Experts and industry journalists suggested that this could have a negative impact on Fluffy’s attitude in the octagon, however, nothing of the sort happened.
Anthony Hernandez quietly built up an advantage, until finally in the fourth round a tired Dolidze no longer had the will to get up from the ground to stand. The Georgian had to do it, of course, but when Hernandez hit with an elbow it was Dolidze who clung to the net.
Although Herb Dean said aloud that he was deducting a point from Dolidze, however, it was of no use, because at the same time Hernandez showered his opponent with three knees to the head, until he finally clipped a tight mata leao choke and began pulling his rival backwards while standing. Roman Dolidze taped out, and Anthony Hernandez could enjoy his eighth consecutive win in the UFC octagon.
