Arman Tsarukyan will face Islam Makhachev in a fight for the lightweight category championship belt. Tsarukyan revealed the key to success in the duel with the Dagestani.
Arman Tsarukyan has been clamoring to fight for the UFC championship belt in recent years. The Armenian has finally jumped to the top of the lightweight rankings and Dana White has confirmed him as the next contender for a title fight.
It was initially assumed that the Islam Makhachev vs Arman Tsarukyan fight would take place at the end of October at the UFC 308 gala. Unfortunately, Islam suffered an injury that delayed his return to competition and the bout was postponed to the first quarter of 2025.
Tsarukyan did not complain, as he felt it would give him more time to properly prepare for the rematch bout with the excellent wrestler. During an interview with Red Corner, Arman revealed the key to success in the fight with Makhachev.
– I have to be better in every aspect. To be prepared for five hard rounds. With a good conditioning background, wrestling defense, good boxing and taekwondo… If I can perfect everything and not let him do what he likes, then I will outsmart him in some moments. That is the key, then I will be able to beat him.
– That’s why some champions are so dominant. Their rivals lack confidence. They come out thinking, “What will Islam do?” I don’t worry about that. I am focused on what I have to do and how I will attack him. Islam is not bad in all aspects of MMA, but it’s also not like there is no element in which you can outwit him. You can outbox him in boxing, kickboxing, wrestling, ground fighting. You just have to be ready for anything.
