Iwo Baraniewski is ready for the biggest challenge of his career so far. Ahead of UFC 331, the Polish fighter met with reporters and discussed how his bout with Alonzo Menifield might unfold. “Rudy” doesn’t rule out the possibility that fans will see another wild exchange of blows.
Baraniewski will compete at UFC 331 this weekend, facing the much more experienced Alonzo Menifield. The Pole has three UFC fights under his belt, all of which he won. The American, on the other hand, has fought 18 times in the Octagon, with a record of 11-6-1.
The scale of the challenge is therefore much greater than in “Rudy’s” previous bouts. Menifield has competed against top-tier fighters in the light heavyweight division for years, and now he’ll try to stop the red-hot Pole.
Baraniewski anticipates two possible scenarios
There’s little doubt that Menifield will be the toughest opponent of Baraniewski’s professional career so far. At the same time, the American has the chance to derail one of the division’s biggest “hype trains” right now.
During a conversation with reporters, Polak admitted that he is considering two completely different scenarios for Saturday’s match.
– I think there will be two options. In the first, he might come at me, but I’m ready for that. In the second, he might wait to attack me on the counter. We’ll see what happens on Saturday. I’m ready for both scenarios. There might be some wild exchanges, just like in my debut.
Baraniewski, therefore, does not intend to assume from the outset that Menifield will go all out from the very first seconds. He is also prepared for a patient American who will try to land a powerful counterpunch.
“Rudy” also emphasized that he has no shortage of motivation heading into his next fight. The goal is clear— another victory in the UFC and another bonus from the organization.
A win over Menifield would be the most valuable victory of Baraniewski’s career and further proof that the Pole is ready for increasingly serious challenges in the light heavyweight division.
