We have learned the official results of the weigh-in before the UFC Vegas 118 gala. All the participants of the major fights fit within the set limits, and Iwo Baraniewski also went through the procedure without any problems.
For the Polish representative, this will be his third fight in the UFC octagon. “Rudy” made a breakthrough into the largest MMA organization in the world, notching two impressive victories before his time. First, he knocked out Ibo Aslan in a wild debut bout, and then he blissfully dispatched Austen Lane.
Now Baraniewski faces another challenge. At UFC Vegas 118 he will face Junior Tafa, who has jumped onto the roster in place of Billy Elekana. Although the Australian has a lot of experience and several fights fought under the UFC banner, many experts point to the Pole as the clear favorite of the duel.
In the evening fight of the event, however, former welterweight champion Belal Muhammad will return to the octagon. The American will face the extremely dangerous Gabriel Bonfim.
UFC Vegas 118 weigh-in results
Iwo Baraniewski filled the limit of the welterweight category without the slightest problem. The Pole carried exactly 206 pounds on the scales, which is the maximum weight allowed for a non-bantamweight bout.
There was a little more excitement on the part of his opponent. Junior Tafa went over the limit by half a pound during his first approach. If he failed to make the extra weight, part of his weight would go into the Pole’s pocket.
However, the Australian was given extra time and returned to the scales after a few dozen minutes. On the second attempt, everything was already in order. Tafa reached the required 206 pounds, making the fight with Baraniewski officially approved.
