Iwo Baraniewski is preparing for his next UFC fight and makes no secret of the fact that Alonzo Menifield will be a tough test for him. “Rudy” highlighted the American’s experience and punching power, and compared his physical attributes to those of his previous opponents.
Baraniewski will return to the Octagon on September 19 at UFC 331 in Los Angeles. The undefeated Pole will face Alonzo Menifield, a fighter with a long history of bouts in the world’s largest MMA organization.
For “Rudy,” this will be another chance to prove that he’s ready to face increasingly tough opponents. The Polish fighter realizes, however, that a moment of inattention in his bout against Menifield could have very serious consequences.
Iwo Baraniewski on Menifield: He has a powerful punch
Ahead of UFC 331, Baraniewski appeared at the TVP Sport studio, where he spoke with Patryk Prokulski. One of the main topics was, of course, his upcoming opponent.
“Rudy” has no intention of underestimating the American. He made a point of highlighting the American’s experience and knockout power.
“He’s dangerous, and he’s experienced. He’s got a powerful punch, so I have to stay alert at all times,” said Iwo. “He’s dangerous at all times. I’m preparing for a tough fight, and I’ll have to stay alert the whole time.”
Baraniewski is therefore expecting a match in which concentration will be of the utmost importance. Menifield is capable of capitalizing on even the slightest mistake and turning the tide of the fight with a single strike.
Polak also commented on his next opponent’s physical attributes. Until now, he has often faced taller opponents, but this time the situation will be a little different.
– I usually fought against taller opponents. He’s the same height as me, but his reach is the same as the others I’ve fought. I’ll have to aim lower than I did against my previous opponents.
So Menifield won’t be a completely new type of opponent for Baraniewski, although “Rudy” will have to make some adjustments to his stand-up game.
On September 19, we’ll find out if the Pole can once again impose his will and add another victory to his UFC record. Baraniewski, however, makes it clear that this time he expects a tough fight and has no intention of letting his guard down for even a moment.
