Belal Muhammad gave the main reason for his loss to Jack Della Maddalena. The former UFC champion admitted that he did not execute the gameplan he set up.
Belal Muhammad lost his championship belt to Jack Dell Maddalen. Having Palestinian roots, the Chicago-based fighter returned to the defeat suffered two weeks ago. The former UFC champion talked about the assumptions for the clash, which took place at UFC 315 in Montreal.
Belal Muhammad admitted that he himself was at fault because instead of focusing on what the trainers had outlined he unnecessarily got into a standoff exchange with the contender. Ultimately, according to Muhammad, this is what cost him the loss of his belt to JDM.
– The plan was to bring Jack to the first floor, I was not supposed to exchange blows with him, but in the course of the fight I felt good due to which I did not execute the established gameplan. It’s hard now I have to live with it. Was my decision wrong? Certainly the result could have gone the other way and it could have been an easier fight for me.
Belal Muhammad lost his championship title however he is still at the top of the welterweight category. The question is whether he will still want to fight in this weight division, as he has previously mentioned that he would be happy to move higher so as not to have to put on many pounds. Above that, the former UFC champion has his eye on a couple of fighters he wants to face.
