Carlos Ulberg and Dominick Reyes will face each other in the main event of the UFC in Perth. The light heavyweight contenders’ duel will take place on September 27.
Carlos Ulberg and Dominick Reyes will face each other in a five-round bout that can confidently be described as a clash of top contenders in the light heavyweight division. After all, the New Zealander is currently third in the UFC rankings while the American is ranked eighth.
Carlos Ulberg has an amazing series of eight wins in a row. Black Jag in his last bout proved to be minimally better than Jan Blachowicz. With the win over the former champion, Ulberg has joined the fray for the highest goals.
The City Kickboxing representative was unexpectedly left out of the strongest lineup at UFC 320, but on the other hand there is no surprise. After all, the organization’s matchmakers needed not only the fighter himself, but also a strong lineup for the evening fight of the Perth gala after Dan Hooker refused to compete in the event.
Dominick Reyes fought two championship fights in 2020. Unfortunately for the American, he failed to win either of them. The Devastator first succumbed to Jon Jones after a judges’ decision, and then fell to the boards after punches from Jan Blachowicz. Later, Reyes scored two losses to Prochazka and Spann, and many experts and fans have already crossed out the fighter.
Dominick Reyes didn’t return to winning ways until June 2024, however, since then he has collected a total of three wins before time which has put him back in the game against the division’s strongest fighters. The situation for the 35-year-old American seems clear, if he beats Ulberg then he should get a chance to fight for the championship belt in the near future.
