Chael Sonnen has strongly surprised with his opinion on the UFC champion. American suggested that Alex Pereira will leave the light heavyweight division regardless of the outcome of the fight.

Alex Pereira will return to the octagon on March 8 when he faces the defense of his championship belt at UFC 313. The excellent Brazilian will face Magomed Ankalaev considered to be the fighter who, in terms of wrestling, can cause Poatan the most problems.

Chael Sonnen, a former fighter in the UFC organization currently working as an analyst at the galas of the best MMA league in the world, has strongly surprised with his opinion on the future of the champion of the up to 93 kilograms division. Chael Sonnen openly suggested that, regardless of the outcome of the fight, Alex Pereira will move to a category higher.

– If Pereira wins he will look for some other job to do, and if he loses he will disappear. I think many people have forgotten how Pereira came to be in the light heavyweight category. It wasn’t that he cleared the middleweight division, he went higher because he lost the belt. That opened the door for him, there was no title to vacate, so he could make a move at any time.

Chael Sonnen also mentioned that the juxtaposition of Jones vs Aspinall is being delayed and may ultimately not happen at all, as the American prefers a duel with Alex Pereira.

– Therefore, regardless of what happens after the Ankalaev fight one thing we can be sure of is that things will be very different for Pereira. I predict that he will move higher, and the ticking bomb in the form of the Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall fight will explode as soon as Pereira finishes the job with Magomed Ankalaev.

One thing is certain, Alex Pereira will not complain about the lack of options. After all, the willingness to fight Poatan was confirmed by Oleksandr Usyk, who said that such a showdown with the UFC champion makes sense.
