Zbigniew Raubo criticized the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight, the experienced trainer said the event was a mere crib and circus.
Zbigniew Raubo was against organizing a Paul vs Tyson fight from the very beginning. Raubo repeatedly said that the age difference was too great and that the former world boxing champion would not present much in the ring.
The event took place on Friday and the winner in Arlington was Jake Paul, who defeated Mike Tyson on points after a unanimous decision by the judges. Coach Raubo was a guest of Michal Tuszynski in the FanSport studio where he addressed the show first.
– If someone, wants to watch something, if someone does something – why not do it? It has nothing to do with sports, but just in this show, an entertainment show, there was a fight of, let’s say, the millennium of women’s boxing. It was such a combination of mega-sport with show, with business…. And it worked out in thousands of percent for this Paul.
Zbigniew Raubo then summarized the Paul vs Tyson matchup itself. The boxing trainer stressed that it was only 10 percent Tyson. Raubo pointed out that it was a big nativity scene and a $20 million circus.
– What he did with Mike Tyson – it had nothing to do with sports. These were two gentlemen who wanted to show off. One that he was still alive, still functioning, still moving. The other wanted to prove to the world that he would beat Mike Tyson, and he succeeded. But anyone who listens to my interviews knows that I said: this is 10% of Mike Tyson. He came out to show off, to feel that adrenaline. And at the same time to make colossal money – $20 million for this crib, for this circus. It looked pathetic, I did not watch this fight. I didn’t get my hands on it.
