Damian Janikowski spoke after KSW 100, the fighter summed up his duel with Piotr Kuberski during the anniversary event.
Damian Janikowski appeared at the KSW 100 gala in Gliwice. Unfortunately, he was not given the opportunity to raise his hand in the air in a gesture of triumph. Janikowski lost by technical knockout in the second round of his bout with Piotr Kuberski.
Jaru met with Damian to discuss the KSW 100 gala at ease. At the beginning of the conversation, Janikowski talked about how preparations for the fight at KSW ‘s anniversary gala went, frankly admitting that they were shorter than usual.
– In general, for the time when I made the decision that I would fight and we returned to the gym we did what we could. It wasn’t quite a full preparation like I always did for almost three months, where I went to fitness tests, started strongly with strength, only later went into endurance, into sparring. Also we here had to speed it up a bit. We did everything at once a few strength units, sparring right away. Looking for sparring partners, everything to prepare well.
– In general, we went a little on those preparations what I did under Paul. As if for me in deciding that I would fight was the fact that I was healthy. I did not have pain in my leg, which had previously prevented me from preparing strongly. Here I was whole, healthy, and it seems to me that for the time I had I did everything I could do. I fought as hard as I could, well what can I say.
Damian Janikowski also commented on his opponent. Janikowski pointed out the strengths and listed the assets of Piotr Kuberski. Damiano pointed out that Qbear is a gabbily large fighter and may have a problem in the future with getting down to the middleweight division limit.
– It was hard to fight with Piotr, he is a big guy kilogram-wise. Here I remind a little of my fight with Szymon Kolecki, who was also bigger and heavier than me. Piotrek for the middleweight category is a really big guy. I think that in the near future he will fight in the light heavyweight division, because it will not be easy for him to make twenty kilograms from gala to gala. He certainly weighs more than 100 kilograms.
– Peter is stable and hits hard, accurately. These are his two such big assets. His height and reach allow him that he doesn’t have to move a lot front to back, just a short deviation and beating fast punches. He just happens to have fast and powerful punches because when he hit me which was evident, he violated me a lot. Until he finally destroyed me in the second round. These are his strengths, but I know that he is (fighting him) winnable. This time he went hard, the win was much better, but that’s how I think our paths will cross again someday.
