Damian Janikowski will face Piotr Kuberski at the KSW 100 gala, and Janikowski realizes that his win could heavily mess up the KSW rankings.
Damian Janikowski has jumped onto the schedule for the KSW 100th anniversary gala. On November 16 in Gliwice, the Olympic medalist will fight Piotr Kuberski. Janikowski recently tried his hand at fighting for the championship belt while “Qbear” is considered the number one contender in the 84 kilogram division.
Jaru asked Damian if he was surprised that an offer suddenly came from the KSW office to fight Piotr Kuberski at the KSW 100 gala in Gliwice.
– For a while I did because I wondered what it was about. Well, but it’s also you know immediately the information went online that Pawel Pawlak has an injury. As if I didn’t know that they put him up there with Mamed before, as if Piotr didn’t have anyone to fight. This only came out later in the wash. But I didn’t give it a second thought, I was moments before training when the manager called me. I told him that after the training we will agree, and everything worked out well.
– Like about any other fighter. Well he wins his fights super great, you know kind of from his side very cool well, and the other thing is he is a rival like everyone else and fight like all the others.
Asked if he had information about whether the fight with Kuberski is a bout for the status of a contender for the middle category belt, Damian replied:
– I didn’t ask about it at all. I have no idea. Certainly, if I won against Peter, this is where the giant castling is done. I would probably jump to number 2 in the ranking. It’s possible that again, I would go out to Paul for the third time. We’ll see, everything will turn out. There is still Mamed, it could be that even if I won the fight now, and Mamed would fight Pawel, I would have to wait, or fight one more fight.
