Dan Hooker is still hoping to fight Conor McGregor. The New Zealander revealed that his manager has flown to Abu Dhabi for UFC 308, where he will speak with the UFC director.
In recent weeks there has been a lot of buzz about a potential fight between Dan Hooker and Conor McGregor. Undoubtedly, this would be a clash that would heat up the fans and provide a ton of excitement, as both Dan and Conor enjoy stand-up exchanges.
Dan Hooker, in an interview with Ariel Helwani, stressed that a duel with Conor McGregor makes a lot of sense for both fighters. Hooker, who met the Irishman at one of the BKFC event, said that both are interested in the duel. Dan, however, knows nothing about what’s going on between McGregor and the UFC.
– This is a fight that makes sense for both me and him. It looks like we’re both interested in it, but I have no idea what’s going on behind the scenes. I have no idea what is going on between him and the UFC. That’s all I can say today.
Hooker revealed that his manager has flown with Alexander Volkanovski to Abu Dhabi. Dan relayed that there are scheduled talks with UFC director Hunter Campbell, as well as matchmakers. The New Zealander expects to learn the name of an opponent and the date of his next UFC fight later this week.
– I will definitely fight early next year. I have already told the UFC that it could be January or March. The rival will be someone from the top five rankings or Conor McGregor. My manager is now with Volk in Abu Dhabi and will talk to UFC director Hunter Campbell or matchmaker Sean Shelby, so I will probably know the date and the opponent by the end of the week.
The fighter, who defeated Mateusz Gamrot in his last appearance, once again stressed that he is interested in fighting a bout in January or March. Dan Hooker will not be able to fight in February, as his wife is scheduled to give birth at that time.
