Dan Hooker is ready to fight a rematch. Mateusz Gamrot and Dustin Poirier were quick to respond to the New Zealander’s entry.
The showdown at the top of the UFC lightweight category is gaining steam. Many of the top fighters still have no fights contracted. Some will be returning to the octagon after big victories, while others will be looking for a chance to blot the stain of their last performance and get back on the winning track. Overnight Polish time there was an interesting exchange of words on the X platform.
Everything was started by Dan Hooker, who published a short post. The New Zealander wrote:
– Revenge.
Very quickly to Hooker’s words wrote back Mateusz Gamrot. The Pole commented on Dan’s entry:
– Great idea.
Unfortunately, it does not seem that Dan Hooker is interested in a rematch with Mateusz Gamrot. Especially if we take into account the recent words of the City Kickboxing representative, who said that he is only interested in fights with the biggest names of the lightweight category and box office fights.
It didn’t take long for Hooker’s entry to be addressed by the other American Top Team fighter. Dustin Poirier, who faced a chance to win the UFC championship belt earlier this year, has also already had a fight with Hooker.

The situation in the lightweight category is extremely interesting, as Poirier in recent days has been inquiring about a trilogy, i.e. another clash with Justin Gaethje. The aforementioned Hooker, meanwhile, mentioned Conor McGregor‘s name, suggesting that the Irishman would gain nothing by fighting Michael Chandler.
One thing is for sure, the matchmakers of the UFC organization will have their hands full and certainly can’t complain about the lack of exciting matchups. The question is how Mateusz Gamrot’s fate will be arranged in this puzzle. Let’s hope that the Pole will soon be contracted for another big fight.
