Dan Hooker has revealed the cause of the hand injury that forced him to withdraw from the UFC 313 gala. The New Zealander relayed that he suffered the injury while sparring.
Dan Hooker was scheduled to duel Justin Gaethje at UFC 313. Known for their excellent stand-up skills, the fighters were to face each other over five rounds in the second fight of the evening of the Las Vegas event.
Unfortunately, this fantastically promising fight will not take place due to Dan Hooker’s injury. The New Zealander told Sky Sports NZ studio how he suffered an injury that forced him to withdraw from his next UFC octagon appearance.
– One of the claws doesn’t look so good,” joked Hooker, showing the difference in the size of the two hands.
– We paired up last night, I brought out a few hooks and some powerful bombs. At one point I hit one of my colleagues in the top of the head. I didn’t think much of it, however, at the club they decided that I should go for an x-ray. Unfortunately, it turned out that there was a broken bone.
Dan Hooker admitted that he doesn’t know what will happen in the near future, and noted that if it weren’t for the doctors and training staff he probably would have normally gone out to fight on March 8.
– Yes I would be ready for a fight. On the other hand, you know how it is during tests when they squeeze your hand and check what is wrong. You croak and scream. We’ll see how it plays out, whether the fight can be rescheduled for a later date.
– It’s a shame that this happened when the gala is so close, I feel sorry for the fans because I know that they were really looking forward to this duel.
