Dana White has decided to clarify rumors about the UFC organization’s new policy toward dual champions and fighters who want to reach for a second belt in a higher division.

In recent days there has been a lot of buzz that there has been a change of heart in the UFC organization’s office regarding potential dual champions. One of those responsible for the rumors on the subject is Diego Lopes, who said that Ilya Topuria moving to the lightweight category was forced by the UFC to vacate his belt.

Dana White, the head of the UFC addressed this hot topic. Has the company’s policy actually changed? Here’s what the president of the world’s best MMA league told reporters just after the UFC gala in Seattle.

– If there will be a fighter who will have a great track record and will be able to defend belts in both weight classes then we will let him do it. With one caveat that he will be very busy.

Dana White also addressed the situation of Ilia Topuria, who took the belt from Alexander Volkanovski, and then in his title defense knocked out Max Holloway, another of the legends of the featherweight division.

– Ilya? I understand him, it makes a lot of sense. We saw who he beat and in what style he did it. Above that, he said he was tired of making weight for the featherweight category. His move to the lightweight division makes sense. Also, I have no problems if he ever wanted to fight in a lower limit.

– Weili Zhang, with her is a similar situation. Capital achievements, many defenses of the belt. Also, I have no problem with her going higher and trying to reach for another title. Our policy has not changed, we will continue to take a case-by-case approach.
