The head of the UFC has commented on the progress made by the world’s top MMA league to organize a Du Plessis vs Strickland rematch fight in Africa.

Dricus Du Plessis has long announced that he would do anything to bring the UFC to South Africa. Du Plessis first won the belt and then defended it in a bout with Israel Adesanya. It is worth noting that the African fought the former champion in Australia, where, to put it lightly, the public was not his ally.

It would seem that Du Plessis’ accomplishments in the octagon are enough to bring the UFC organization to South Africa. During a press conference, Dana White gave the latest news on the status of the Du Plessis vs Strickland fight. The UFC chief confirmed that Sean Strickland will be Di Plessis’ next opponent. When asked about the location, he recounted:

– You all know how much I want it. I’m trying to make it happen. As for the available arenas, it’s a tough situation there. There is a problem with it all over Africa. We are trying to solve it somehow.

– There is a facility that is open. It is not covered and you all know what my opinion is about such arenas. We have already asked about the weather, about the appropriate period. We received information that the problem is the wind. If anything were to interfere with the course of the duel, whether it be wind, rain, humidity or even vermin I would shy away from it all. Many factors can affect the outcome of a fight, and our priority is to make sure it never happens.
