Dana White addressed the form of Sean O’Malley in the evening fight of the UFC 306 gala. The head of the UFC organization commented on the performance of the fighter who lost his championship belt.
Sean O’Malley believed he would become an even bigger star after defeating Merab Dvalishvili. However, the champion lost the belt to the Georgian, and it may be worrisome how O’Malley performed in the octagon at UFC 306.
Dana White summed up Sean’s form strongly. The head of the world’s best MMA league admitted that Sean O’Malley looked weak from the very beginning of the evening’s fight.
– He looked deflated. He looked weak. From the beginning until the last round he didn’t look good. Then he hit Merab with a punch to the torso and hurt the Georgian. O’Malley noticed it, but… looking at the statistics how many of those punches did Sean deal? There were rounds in which only six punches were good.
Sean O’Malley looked like he wasn’t himself in this bout. Dana White was asked if the still-young champion was overwhelmed by the pressure of performing in the fight of the evening of such a big event. The UFC chief replied.
– I have no idea if his attitude was influenced by pressure. Normally, I would expect him to be one of the youngsters who, when thrown into the deep end, would lift that burden and feel like a fish in the water. I have no idea if he just walked out of the locker room tonight and felt powerless? Unfortunately, sometimes there are such evenings. That’s just the way it is.
