Daniel Cormier is not a fan of Francis Ngannou’s next boxing fight, the former UFC champion is concerned about the Cameroonian’s health.
In recent days there have been rumors about Francis Ngannou ‘s return to the boxing ring. The Cameroonian himself fueled the discussion on the subject by suggesting that he has had a clash with Deontay Wilder in his mind for a long time and wants to make it happen.
– I’m eager for the fight with Deontay Wilder because it’s a duel of the kind where someone will go to sleep 80% of the time. The questions “who beats harder, you or Deontay?” come back time and time again, and while you may think you don’t care, it sits in your head.
Daniel Cormier is of a completely different opinion. The former UFC champion is worried about Francis Ngannou ‘s next boxing performance given his heavy knockout loss to Anthony Joshua.
– Remember that people were betting on Francis in the fight with Joshua? I don’t want to insult Ngannou here in any way, but the truth is that Anthony didn’t feel threatened by Francis’ inexperience in boxing. The Englishman is not famous for aggressive attacks and pressure meanwhile in the duel with Ngannou he simply hunted Francis.
– I can understand that Francis Ngannou may want to prove that the last defeat was a coincidence. I can also understand people who recall how Ngannou failed against Tyson Fury. However, we cannot ignore what happened in the fight with Joshua especially how we compare it with Ngannou’s performance in his return to MMA, where he totally dominated his rival.
The former UFC champion is privately acquainted with Deontay Wilder. Cormier said that Ngannou’s fight with the Bronze Bomber could be a tough crossing for the Cameroonian for the sake of the attributes the American has in his arsenal.
– People don’t hurt Francis in fights, yet Anthony Joshua did just that. Ngannou looked bad right after the knockout. I know that in a fight with Deontay Wilder, too, there may be moments when Francis will have to look defensive and safe to stay healthy. I have always thought that Deontay is the most dangerous opponent for Ngannou. Listen I was with Wilder in one Olympic team, he fights freely in the ring, less technically. His movements and punches may seem out of the box, they are brought out at odd angles, but remember that Deontay Wilder has incredible punching power that can put anyone to sleep.
