Darko Stosić wants to dethrone Phil De Fries at KSW 100

Darko Stosić has spoken ahead of his rematch with Phil De Fries at the KSW 100 gala in Gliwice. The Serb has had a hard time preparing.

Darko Stosić will fight his second bout with Phil De Fries at KSW 100, and the Serb will again face the chance to win the KSW championship belt. The first time he failed to do so and lost to the Englishman before time.

Darko Stosić recalled his first fight with Phil De Fries and talked about what went wrong.

– From the very beginning, Phil was very dominant. After the first round I was tired, and by the fifth round I was a mess. I was struggling for breath. It was very difficult. My preparation was not good enough for this fight. I didn’t know how strong Phil was. Now I know his style, I know how strong a fighter he is.

The Serb revealed that he has made a number of changes in preparation for the rematch at KSW 100. Darko Stosić has had a tough training camp during which he has worked on defending his takedowns.

– In preparing for this fight we changed practically everything. We prepared very good tactics. I had difficult and heavy sparring partners. Now everything should work out differently. As for the plan for the fight, it’s clear that you have to defend the takedown attempts and shoot Phil in the standup. I have fought six consecutive fights since our first clash. I am heavier. I have improved my takedown defenses. I think I’m a much better fighter now than I was before.

Stos pointed out that although the Englishman’s fighting style is boring it is great in the cage.

– Phil’s style is boring, but what he does in the cage, he does very well. Every fighter plays his game, this also deserves respect. In his last fight he showed some interesting attacks, so I think that now he will maybe try to fight a little in the stand-up. However, if it actually comes to that, he will surely fall, and I will be the new champion. I’m the guy who got the most knockout bonuses in KSW, so I think I have the most punching power.
