Dricus Du Plessis believes he will knock out Alex Pereira: “I hit clean with small gloves and you fall”

Dricus Du Plessis respects Alex Pereira, however, he believes that if it came to a fight between UFC champions he would be able to hit and knock out the Poatan cleanly.

Dricus Du Plessis is the current UFC middleweight champion. The South African fighter has quickly made an incredible career in the best MMA league in the world. Alex Pereira, whose achievements are even more impressive than those of the African, climbed to the top just as quickly and impressively.

Dricus Du Plessis was a guest on the Submission Radio podcast, where he had the opportunity to speak about a possible skirmish with Poatan. Du Plessis pointed out that although the Brazilian is an excellent kickboxer, they will not fight in that sport.

– Talking only about stand-up exchanges, and remember this is not a kickboxing fight but a duel in MMA. In kickboxing you have to hit with combinations, you have to bring out powerful punches every now and then. If you connect your opponent he can be counted, there are many components in these fights. In MMA, no matter who my opponent is, if I hit cleanly with small gloves, you fall. Eventually I’ll get you down.

Dricus Du Plessis did not fail to mention the duel with Israel Adesanya. The Nigerian thought he was a better standup fighter than the African.

– Listen Izzy said I’m too slow, that I won’t be able to mouth him. Also. you know I even made a social media post about it recently. I wrote that it may not look beautiful, but it is effective. I really am able to hit anyone at some point. And then the whole story changes, because as I said I don’t fight in kickboxing but I fight in MMA. That’s my advantage, I can combine multiple levels.

At the end of the interview, the middleweight champion commented on Alex Pereira’s recent fight with Khalil Rountree. Stillknocks noted the gaps in the game of the champion of the welterweight division.

– Alex has a great stand-up. His strikes are amazing. That’s why he has achieved such great results in kickboxing. However, we saw in the last fight with Rountree that there were actions in which Khalil had a lot of success and hit. In the first two rounds, Rountree had the advantage.
