Dricus Du Plessis completely dominated and powerfully battered Sean Strickland at UFC 312 in Sydney. The champion defended his middleweight division belt.
Dricus Du Plessis and Sean Strickland faced each other in the fight of the evening at UFC 312, with the UFC middleweight championship belt at stake in the fighters’ rematch. The duel was contracted for five rounds.
The first fight between Du Plessis and Strickland was extremely even, but in the end the judges ruled the South African representative the winner. Since then, both fighters have fought one bout each. Dricus defeated Israel Adesanya, and Sean dealt with Paulo Costa.
In the beginning, the fighters exchanged low kicks to which Sean Strickland added right straight work. Unexpectedly Strickland hits a right, but Dricus responds with a backfist and a renewed action with long punches, which reach the head of the contender. An excellent round performed by the champion.
Sean Strickland needs a knockout or submission if he wants to regain the belt. Dricus brings out a very strong kick to the body and immediately attacks with a straight to the head of his rival. The champion shot through with a spinner to the body. Two good punches from the American. Great action by the African, who entered Strickland with punches, however, the latter attempted a guillotine, which made Du Plessis retreat. Good straight from Strickland.
