Dricus Du Plessis recalled the clash with Khamzat Chimaev. The former UFC champion admitted that it was not a fun fight for the fans and he himself was bored during the fight.

Dricus Du Plessis has grown in recent years into one of the UFC ‘s biggest stars in the middleweight category. The African took the championship belt from Sean Strickland, then submitted Israel Adesanya to face Strickland in a rematch and defeat him again.

But finally, after six years of fighting without defeat, came a painful loss to Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 319 in Chicago and the loss of his championship belt. Du Plessis hasn’t fought a fight since that bout, and fans are slowly beginning to wonder about Stillknocks ‘ absence from the octagon for so long.

Dricus Du Plessis was a guest on Fight Forecast where he returned to fight Khamzat Chimaev.

– He made him stay out of danger. He fought in such a way that he actually neutralized my ability to start a battle. Because if we had started exchanging blows it would have been a completely different story. He knew that and played it smart. It’s frustrating, really. As I said dynamic attacks, turning up the tempo is something that makes me better. After learning some of his game, I know what I need to work on. And believe me in my next fight you will see just that, just that. I will be a master at it.

Dricus Du Plessis said that he had learned from the defeat and would make changes in his fighting style. He later added further that his skirmish with Khamzat Chimaev was not a show that fans could enjoy.

– As I said right after the fight, a big congratulations to him. He went into the octagon and did what he had to do. It was obviously not a fight that was at the level of hype that it was before the fight. It was not a very fun fight to watch to the fans, and honestly during the fight even I got bored with it (laughs).

Dricus Du Plessis has expressed his desire to return to the UFC octagon in the spring. At this point, the African’s next opponent is unknown, although it is worth mentioning that coach Morne Visser suggested that it could be Brendan Allen.
