Dricus Du Plessis has suggested the name of Sean Strickland’s next opponent, the UFC champion believes the American should fight a rematch with Israel Adesanya.
Dricus Du Plessis fought his second fight over the weekend against Sean Strickland. The African confidently defended his UFC middleweight championship belt. Du Plessis gave the judges no doubt by winning each round and skillfully scoring the American, who finished the duel with a broken nose.
Speaking to reporters after the event, Dricus Du Plessis suggested another opponent for Sean Strickland. According to the South African representative, it would be best if Strickland fought a rematch with Israel Adesanya.
– I know what will happen now, I guarantee you it will happen. I’m betting that now he will fight Adesanya. Listen I just thought about it, this rematch would be amazing. I think it’s going to happen. It will probably be the fight of the evening of some Fight Night gala.
Du Plessis’s suggestion makes a lot of sense, as both fighters are on the losing end, they are not fond of each other, and such a matchup will undoubtedly draw fans to the stands and in front of TV sets. Strickland lost in the aforementioned rematch with Dricus while Izzy succumbed to Nassourdine Imavov at the Riyadh gala.
However, it’s hard not to get the impression that the UFC champion took the opportunity to stick a pin in both fighters by pointing out that they should fight in the fight of the evening of a Fight Night series event, rather than in a major event sold on PPV.
