Dustin Poirier evaluated Michael Chandler’s performance at UFC 314, and the American strongly summed up his compatriot’s loss to Paddy Pimblett.

Michael Chandler recorded his third consecutive loss in the UFC octagon. The experienced fighter, who was Bellator champion in the past, this time had to recognize the superiority of Paddy Pimblett. Chandler was taken down by the talented Englishman in the third round.

Dustin Poirier decided to evaluate and comment on Michael Chandler’s performance at the UFC 314 gala in Miami. Diamond was present at the event and worked as an analyst for the ESPN station. Poirier has a fight with Chandler to his credit, so he has a good point of reference for how “Iron” presented himself.

– I think throughout the week, what we all talked about put him up against the wall. It is what has bothered Anthony Smith in the past, when we said he was at a crossroads. I think that happened today. We saw him lose, and not just lose he just got beaten by a young guy. It was a spanking.

Dustin Poirier pointed out that Chandler had looked good in the first game.

– He had success with overthrows, kept him on the mat by controlling his wrist. The truth is that he won the first round, and in the second round he didn’t look like his usual self.

– He didn’t look good on his feet, it looked like he started to slow down. We’re not used to that, to see him losing strength in the second round. This guy is in phenomenal shape, he looks great, but you just can’t cheat age and the passing of time.

Dustin Poirier did not draw a definitive conclusion and did not openly mention that Chandler should end his career. Diamond did, however, allude earlier to the situation of Anthony Smith, who is two years younger than Chandler, and after three losses in his last four appearances decided to end his career with a fight at a gala in Kansas in late April.

Dustin Poirier himself is preparing to end his career. The American Top Team fighter is scheduled to fight his last professional bout in July at a gala in New Orleans in front of his home crowd.
