Georges St Pierre has given valuable advice to Kamaru Usman. The former UFC champion in the welterweight and middleweight divisions revealed what he passed on to the Nigerian.
Georges St Pierre is one of the living legends of world MMA. The Canadian representative is permanently inscribed in golden letters in the history of the UFC organization. It is the popular GSP who is one of the fighters who can confidently be said to have built the power of the best MMA league in the world.
St Pierre fought in the UFC from 2004 to 2017 and boasts, among other things, a series of ten consecutive defenses of the welterweight division belt. In his final fight, Georges faced Michael Bisping, whom he took the middleweight title from.
Even before officially ending his career and his last fight, GSP rocked a career in Hollywood, where he is best known for his role as Batroc in the “Captain America” films and series in the Marvel universe. In addition, he has also taken to promoting his own line of liquor.
Georges St Pierre gave advice to Kamar Usman
Georges St Pierre, in an interview with Adin Ross, revealed what advice he gave to Kamar Usman.
– Kamaru is already well into his 30s. I told him that I was the same age at a similar point in my career. So I asked him if he still intended to fight. He replied: “Yes I think I will try to fight for the title again.”
The Canadian relayed exactly what he told the approaching Usman.
– I said: “Kamaru, if you want I will give you one piece of advice. Listen do what you need to do, get it out of your system. But it’s imperative to leave while being at the top.” For an athlete, this is such an icing on the cake both in terms of health and from a business standpoint. When you end your career as a champion then there are new options to make money. When you lose two or three fights and retire, it’s a fact, you’ve earned a little more for those fights, but your health declines and those bad sports results block some opportunities for growth and cooperation with companies.
The 44-year-old has no plans to return to competing however, he follows all major events of the UFC organization with great interest.
