Glover Teixeira former champion of the UFC organization is considering a return to competition. The Brazilian is ready to resume his career and would like to compete in jiu-jitsu to begin with.
Glover Teixeira is an extremely experienced fighter who will celebrate his 45th birthday this month. The biggest success in the Brazilian’s career is winning the championship belt of the UFC organization. Teixeira took the welterweight title from Jan Blachowicz at UFC 267.
Teixeira last fought in the UFC octagon at UFC 283 when he lost to Jamahal Hill. Later, the Connecticut-based fighter still recorded a winning grappling start against Anthony Smith at UFC Invitational 4.
In a recent interview, Glover admitted that although he has no fight contracted, he is considering resuming his career.
– Nothing is signed however I want to return to competition. I intend to take on some challenges. It’s hard to motivate myself to train hard without a confirmed fight that’s why I want to come back.
Glover Teixeira stressed that he is ready to take on competition in various disciplines. The veteran also mentioned recent training sessions with Sean Strickland and Alex Pereira. It is Poatan who is urging his friend and mentor to return.
– I want to fight in jiu-jitsu, I would also like to try something else, I don’t know maybe boxing? Or maybe I’ll just come back to fight some fights in the UFC. It must be something because I feel great when I train at our club. Recently I did grappling, then wrestling. I did training with Sean Strickland and with Poatan. During one of the light sparring sessions Alex said to me, “cuz Glover you have to come back!” I really feel great, I’m not saying I want to ‘fight’, but I definitely want to compete. I want to fight fights with titled rivals like Lovato.
