In the evening fight of the GROMDA 25 gala Maciej “Luta” Grzegorzewski faced Mateusz “Ziomus” Ziomek. At stake was the belt of the NITRO category.
Mariusz Grabowski has said more than once that there is no shortage of smaller-sized fighters in the GROMDA entries. It was for them that the NITRO division was created. Tonight we met the inaugural champion. “Luta” and “Ziomus” competed for the title.
Grzegorzewski went to the ring as a favorite, which was not surprising. For “Luta” this was the 5th fight in the organization, and on top of that he won all the previous ones. After his punches fell, among others, “HeavyHeart”, which other brawlers could not do. Facing the Bialystok fighter today was “Ziomuś” – a clubmate of Mateusz “Don Diego” Kubiszyn, who watched the GROMDA 25 evening fight from close range.
GROMDA 25: Luta vs. Homeboy – who won the NITRO belt?
ROUND 1 – Luta calmly waited for Ziomus, who jumped out with the first series and knelt down after the blow! The Bialystok-based fighter calmly hunted for a counter-strike, and Ziomuś outplayed him by coming in with successive charges. Grzegorzewski waited well for his chances and balked at his ribs in the clinch. Ziomuś still before the end of the round claimed a strong right.
RUN 2 – The countryman attacked with his left, which was obviously meant to focus his rival’s attention before attacking with his right. Luta countered quickly and strongly. However, the Bialystok-based fighter was exposing himself by standing still for the attacks of Ziomus, who did not stop torpedoing him with successive rounds. Luta attacked and once again brought his opponent to the count.
ROUND 3 – Luta started with a right, but was well answered by Ziomus. Grzegorzewski took a left hook, shook him, but he didn’t even kneel down. Homeboy pressed forward, bit down and came in with a series on his head. Luta responded – and very effectively! Countryman escaped the onslaught of Maciej Grzegorzewski, who was hunting for a knockout.
RUN 4 – Luta waited steadily for Ziomus, who was suited to the role of aggressor. Ziomus hit with his sickle at half distance, although Grzegorzewski did not stand back. Time and again Matthew Ziomek’s head sprang up after a counterattack. Ziomusz was looking for dangerous series, but the men dragged the fight to a duel with no time limit.
RUN 5 – The countryman stopped Luta’s offensive. The Bialystok native was definitely bolder on the offensive. He covered well behind the double guard, avoiding Ziomek’s charge. Ziomek rushed in with a long right after a left nod by Ziomek. Luta jumped in with another attack, but ready for it was Ziomus.
After two minutes, it was Ziomus who seemed to be the fresher player. Luta was breathing hard, but was ready with a counter to another acceleration by Ziomus. Grzegorzewski was rocking with a double guard, but he still took a few punches to the ribs. Ziomus was accelerating, though Luta tried to catch him with a kotra sickle in the second pace. Grzegorzewski slowed down dangerously, but fortunately for him, Ziomos didn’t have the strength to rebuke him for it.
Matthew Ziomek brought out a really great sickle after a full turn…. But he set off Lut! A strong attack by the Bialystok man, who, however, let himself go – the referee drew his attention to him, and Ziomusj provoked Maciej by leaning low. A strong series of Ziomusj, who pulled Luta down by the head on the mat. Grzegorzewski was sparing with his punches, although after more than 7. minutes of an unlimited time round, you couldn’t surprise him!
Ziiomek sent in more sickles, firing combinations at Luta, who was hidden behind the guard. Grzegorzewski fired away with a series, fending off Mateusz Ziiomek, who was counted out in the corner. Heavy breathing from both sides. Luta unleashed his hands, hitting Ziiomek in the head. The Rzeszowian mixed attacks on the loins and on the head, and Luta seemed to feel a second freshness – he sent voluminous sickles looking for a knockout, although most of them cut through the air. The Belarusian attacked once again, but in a moment he was countered by Ziomus.
The men chopped mercilessly, although in the 5th round alone it had already tapped 11 minutes. Homeboy approached Grzegorzewski with punches, but it was Luta who was closer to the end with his counter punches. The swollen Luta was constantly looking for a knockout, while Ziomuś was seemingly jokingly swaying, combining and suggesting a nokdaun, just to hit Luta. Grzegorzewski chopped with his last strength. Although Ziomek was hitting with his left and right, the Bialystok native was closing him on the net.
Homeboy fired back with hooks and sent Luta to the boards! Grzegorzewski was unable to get back to his feet, and Ziomuś reached for the GROMDY belt!
Result: Homeboy won by TKO in the 5th round.
