Ian Garry defeated Carlos Prates on points in the UFC Kansas evening bout

Ian Garry defeated Carlos Prates on points in the evening fight of the UFC gala in Kansas. The Brazilian threatened the Irishman, however, the latter claimed victory after the judges’ decision.

Ian Machado Garry and Carlos Prates faced each other in the evening fight of the UFC‘s Kansas City gala. The talented welterweight fighters graced the event at the Sprint Center with their performance. The clash was contracted for five rounds.

The higher ranked Irishman was the favorite of the fight, however, many fans believed that the unleashed Brazilian could add another impressive win before time to his record.

The fighters started the duel with single attacks. Ian Garry kicked often and seemed to start catching the distance accordingly. Unexpectedly, the Irishman wanted to move the fight to the mat. Carlos Prates excelled in his defense. The Brazilian took his time in the first round, and although he tried to go forward and impose pressure it was Garry who was more active and brought out the punches more often. Garry hit hard in the final seconds, Prates found himself on his back where the Irishman brought out several strong ground and pound strikes.

Garry’s good work in the stand-up. Ian moves for an overthrow however Prates again managed to defend himself. Future seems to be faster in the evening fight of the Kansas gala. Good straight of the Brazilian. Machado Garry often uses high kicks. Prates enters the higher ranked opponent with punches and we have a clinch under the net. Quick takedown followed by Garry’s creative work in the standup. Great timing by Ian, who hits an elbow. Ian Garry goes to the legs of the Brazilian for the third time, and the Brazilian again successfully, very nicely defended. Strong finish by Garry who hit, and later made two attempts at spinning kicks, which admittedly did not reach the target, but at the same time prevented Prates from shortening the distance.

Machado Garry is definitely more active and takes punches from the opponent more often. A nice accurate right by Prates. Ian tries to overthrow, and Carlos like programmed defends himself very well. A good series of boxing punches by Garry. The Irishman hits and then successfully brings his rival to the mat. Ground and pound by the Irishman, who keeps his rival under the net on the ground. We return to the stand-up however, after some time Garry once again successfully overthrows. The Irishman undoubtedly won the first three rounds.

Good middle kick by Prates. Nice combination of punches from the Irishman. Ian moves for an overthrow, works him under the net and brings his opponent down for a moment, but Prates quickly gets up. Carlos hits with a right during the exchange, however, in total he has four fewer accurate punches than his rival. Another good punch from Prates. Ian hits with a solid left. Good straight punches by Prates, who has closed his rival on the net.

Excellent work by Prates, who again tries to close his opponent on the net. Garry goes for the bring. Carlos, however, does not allow himself to be overthrown and gets out of the clinch. Accurate kicks of the Brazilian. Carlos unleashed his hands and wanted to mouth his opponent, however, the opponent countered brilliantly. Good combination of four punches of the Irishman and solid knockdown kicks. A capital action by Prates, who defended the overthrow and found himself on top himself attacking ground and pound. Very strong punches from the Brazilian. The fighters made it to the end of the clash. Ian Garry defeated Carlos Prates by unanimous decision of the judges.
