Ibragim Chuzhigaev and Marcin Wojcik will face each other at KSW 108 in Olsztyn. The fight between the top fighters in the welterweight category will take place on July 19 at the Urania Hall.
Ibragim Chuzhigaev (19-5), a former KSW welterweight champion who never lost his title in a fight, will return to the cage at the XTB KSW 108 gala in Olsztyn, and his opponent will be former two-time contender to the belt, Marcin Wojcik (20-10). The confrontation between the number one and two of the KSW welterweight rankings will take place on July 19 at the Urania Hall.
Ibragim Chuzhigaev made his KSW debut in January 2022. At the KSW 66 gala, he faced welterweight champion Tomasz Narkun and, after a very challenging five-round bout, took the title from the longest-reigning champion in the history of the weight class. In December of the same year, at the XTB KSW 77 gala, Ibragim made his first defense of the belt and defeated Ivan Erslan in a thrilling bout. Both of these championship clashes were voted the best fights of the evening. In his second defense of the title, Chuzhigaev submitted Bohdan Gnidka, for which he was also awarded a bonus. After this confrontation, the paths of the champion and KSW parted, and the belt was vacated. This year, the 33-year-old representing Turkey returned under the wings of the Polish organization and was scheduled to fight for the belt against the current champion, Rafal Haratyk, in April, but an injury eliminated the champion from sporting competition for an extended period of time. Khuzhigaev remains undefeated since 2017 and is on a wave of ten straight wins.
Marcin Wojcik has fought ten fights in the round cage. Twice he fought for the welterweight championship belt. The last time he competed for this trophy was last November, but he had to recognize the superiority of Rafal Haratyka. The popular “Giant” is known for giving strong fights. In the round cage he won one bonus each for best submission and best knockout, and only one of his bouts made it to the judges’ decision. Wojcik is an experienced fighter who has been competing in professional MMA since 2007, and has fought 30 fights, 20 of which he won. Eighteen times he triumphed before time, eleven times he sent his rivals to the boards, and seven times he won by submission. To his credit, he has won championship belts of the FEN and Gladiator Arena organizations.
