Nassourdine Imavov moved up to the second position of the UFC’s middleweight division rankings, and two fighters managed to enter the roster without fighting at recent galas.

The UFC gala in Riyadh brought a number of changes in the middleweight category rankings. Probably the situation would have been different if Israel Adesanya had won, however, the win of the lower-ranked Nassourdine Imavov set off a domino of consequences.

Nassourdine Imavov has moved up to the second position of the ranking. This means the promotion of the Frenchman by three positions. Israel Adesanya dropped to fourth place, just behind Khamzat Chimaev. Robert Whittaker, who is currently in fifth place, has also slipped a position.

Jared Cannonier jumped to seventh place while Marvin Vettori dropped to eighth. Both fighters will fight in the first quarter of 2025, so their positions could improve or definitely deteriorate in the near future.

Dana White wanted changes in the lead of the rankings and a reasonable reshuffling of the positions in the top 15. The question is whether this is what the UFC boss had in mind, as Michel Pereira recorded a promotion of two places without fighting a bout. The situation behind the Brazilian’s back is even more interesting, as Roman Kopylov and Bo Nickal checked in at positions 14 and 15 without a fight.

Of course, regarding the Russian, it should be remembered that he fought at the beginning of January, but it is strange that only now, with a considerable delay, he has jumped into the top fifteen of the middleweight division. American Nickal hasn’t fought since November, so in the case of this fighter it’s probably a matter of building ground for the promotion of his next fight.
