Israel Adesanya responded to critics, the former UFC champion addressed all those who heaped criticism on him after his recent loss to Nassourdin Imavov.
Israel Adesanya is definitely not having the best time in his career. The former UFC middleweight champion has lost four of his last five fights. Adesanya has taken on the tough topic of his continued adventure in professional sports.
Israel Adesanya addressed on his youtube channel whether he is thinking about one more fight for the championship belt in the future. The Nigerian stressed that when he moved to the UFC he did not think about the title, and also admitted that he expected he could reach for the belt.
– Do I have my eye on fighting for the belt in the future? No. When I got to the UFC I never chased the belt. I always emphasize that. I didn’t chase the belt. I was expecting it. I expected to become a champion. I expected to achieve that goal because of the work I put in, my belief in myself and my mental attitude. I knew that all that I was doing would lead me to the title. I expected it.
Israel Adesanya also commented on the series of losses. The Last Stylebender made it clear that after his knockout at the hands of Nassourdine Imavov he no longer expects anything in MMA. He stressed, however, that if the opportunity came to fight for the highest goals again he would, of course, accept it.
– When I lost to Dricus, I thought: “Well, it’s cool. I’ll come back. I’m not going to chase anything. I’m going to go back to the top, because that’s what I expect.” Now, after the last fight with Imavov I think, “You know what? I don’t expect anything anymore.” I don’t expect to become champion again. If what I have accomplished so far in this sport doesn’t make me happy, what can make me happy? So I don’t expect anything anymore. If the opportunity comes – I’ll grab it with both hands, but we’ll see. I just chill out, live, train, do well.
Israel Adesanya also responded to any hecklers and critics. The former middle division champion briefly explained those who poured a bucket of slander on him after the gala in Arabia.
– Call me finished, but how can you call me finished when you guys never started? You haven’t even taken the first step. What have you guys accomplished?
