Iwo Baraniewski, in a long conversation with Karol Paciorek, talked about his career, his plans for the future and his approach to the growing expectations of fans. The undefeated Pole admitted that he doesn’t feel the pressure of more successes, because from the beginning he fights primarily for himself.
The popular “Rudy” made his way to the UFC through a breakthrough. He won a contract with the largest MMA organization in the world thanks to an impressive knockout in Dana White’s Contender Series program, where he stopped a much higher ranked opponent. His adventure in the octagon began just as impressively.
In his debut, Baraniewski faced Ibo Aslan. The duel provided great excitement from the first seconds, and the Pole ended it with an impressive knockout. A few months later he checked in the octagon again, this time at a gala in London. There he needed only a moment to knock Austen Lane out hard and confirm that he is one of the most interesting European prospects in the UFC.
Not surprisingly, expectations have begun to grow around the Aligatores club player. The interested party himself, however, approaches the subject with great calmness.
Baraniewski: “I want to be the best for myself”
During a visit to the Imponderabilia channel, Iwo Baraniewski was asked about the pressure that naturally comes with successive victories and growing popularity. The Pole admitted that he has never looked at his career through the prism of other people’s expectations.
According to “Rudy,” the most important thing is his own ambition and pursuit of sports perfection. It is his desire to become the best player in the world that drives him to work hard every day.
– I don’t feel anything like pressure, because I do it for myself, because I’m the one who wants to be the best, and I’m the one who sacrifices everything to be. I don’t feel any pressure that “someone out there is counting on me, and if I don’t do it, hope is dead.” People have some expectations, but I don’t do it for people. I do it because I want to be the best, not I want to be the best for people. That kind of pressure doesn’t sit on me at all.
Baraniewski’s words show that despite his rapid rise in popularity, he remains focused primarily on his own development. The Pole will soon face another challenge in the UFC, and if he maintains his current pace, he could very soon check in at the top of his weight category.
