Jakub Kaszuba knocked out Connor Hughes with powerful elbows on the first floor, and thus once again claimed the PFL Europe lightweight championship belt.
Jakub Kaszuba and Connor Hughes met in the final duel of the PFL Europe play off in the lightweight category. At stake in the duel was the lightweight category championship belt and a check for $100,000. Both the Pole and the Englishman needed just two wins to check into the fight card of the most important gala of the European PFL season.
Undefeated Jakub Kaszuba as last year’s champion could go out to fight at the Lyon gala with confidence. The Pole has in his record a victory over Dylan Tuk, to whom Connor Hughes lost. A recap of the Kaszuba vs Hughes fight.
A quiet start to the fight performed by both fighters, a lot of examination and touchdowns however few accurate punches. Hughes hits with two boxing punches. Another good attack by the Englishman. Kaszuba reverses the position under the net and hits with short punches. The referee breaks the clinch and orders the fight to resume in the middle of the cage. Connor Hughes hits and the Pole falls to the boards. The Englishman jumps in to hit with hammerfists, and when that fails he tries to pin the choke from behind his back. Fortunately, Jakub Kaszuba got out of the tough situation and found himself on top. Hughes works to neutralize the Pole’s attacks. Kaszuba finishes the round with ground and pound attacks.
Jakub Kaszuba successfully takes the fight to the mat in the third installment. The Pole has four minutes to work from the top and smash his rival with attacks. The Englishman is cunningly defending himself, however Kuba starts to bring out more punches and mixes up his attacks nicely. Hughes was close to returning to the stand-up, however, Kaszuba successfully brought down again and torments his rival with wrestling. Kaszuba hits elbows. The Pole was close to transitioning to the dosad. Kuba’s capital actions at the end of the round, a mass of elbows fell on the head of the rival.
Jakub Kaszuba quickly moves the fight to the mat. Hughes saves himself with a guillotine, however, the Pole quickly breaks it. Brutal elbow attacks performed by Kuba. The Englishman is basically only defending himself, but Jakub Kaszuba is increasingly breaking through his rival’s defense. A very good round by Kuba, who is really close to knocking out his rival. End of the fight. Jakub Kaszuba knocked out Hughes with elbows on the ground and won the PFL Europe belt.
