Jiri Prochazka Denies Reports of a Fight with Paulo Costa: Don’t Believe All That Nonsense

Jiri Prochazka decided to respond to reports circulating online about his potential fight with Paulo Costa. The former UFC light heavyweight champion noted that the bout with “Borrachinha” has still not been officially confirmed.

In recent days, there has been a lot of talk about a possible matchup between Prochazka and Costa. The Czech fighter claimed that the Brazilian had received an offer to fight him but had not yet responded. “Borrachinha,” however, presented a completely different version of events. According to him, UFC representatives did not mention the former light heavyweight champion’s name at all.

Shortly thereafter, reports began appearing on social media suggesting that everything had already been decided and that Prochazka would face Costa. The Czech fighter therefore decided to clarify the situation himself.

Prochazka posted a lengthy message on Instagram in which he addressed both the ongoing preparations and the information circulating online. The former UFC champion warned fans not to believe everything they see on social media.

– A strong week, great rounds, and great teamwork. This weekend, I’ll be relaxing at a bachelor party with family and friends. We’re starting the third week. Just don’t believe all the nonsense that pops up online. The fight hasn’t been confirmed yet; we’re still working on it. One thing is certain. I want my preparations to be really thorough—I want to break everything down into its basic components and start with the fundamentals that have long been a part of me. There are still levels to reach, and I’m very grateful right now that I can clearly see them, ” Jiri Prochazka wrote on Instagram.

Czech hasn’t stepped into the Octagon since April, when he had a chance to reclaim the UFC light heavyweight championship. He faced Carlos Ulberg, who suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury during the fight. Prochazka, however, failed to capitalize on his opponent’s problems and was ultimately knocked out himself.

After the fight, the former champion admitted that when he noticed Ulberg’s health issues, he eased up a bit and stopped pressing with such intensity. This turned out to be a costly mistake that caused him to let a great opportunity slip away. Now the Czech fighter wants to put that setback behind him and make another push toward the top of the division.

Costa also fought at the same event. “Borrachinha” returned to the light heavyweight division and had a very successful outing, defeating Azamat Murzakanov by TKO in the third round. It was the Brazilian’s second consecutive victory.

From a sports perspective, a matchup between Procházka and Costa would certainly generate a lot of interest. However, we’ll have to wait a bit longer for the official announcement. As the Czech fighter himself noted, talks are ongoing, but nothing has been confirmed at this point.
