Joe Rogan has suggested two crazy and extremely cash-strapped fights that would happen in the UFC. The commentator wants Ilia Topuria to move up to the lightweight category.
Joe Rogan has worked as a commentator for UFC galas for many years. Being close to the octagon, Rogan often has many interesting ideas. We wrote about one of them recently, when Joe Rogan confirmed that he had presented the UFC owner with a plan to eliminate weight cutting.
Now, during one of the interviews, Rogan was asked about Ilya Topuria and Islam Makhachev. Joe immediately outlined the perfect plan to take advantage of the situation. The American is a big fan of the idea of the Georgian-born El Matador moving up a category for a super fight with the Dagestan.
Joe Rogan also threw in a solution to the possible interregnum in the up to 66 kilogram category by proposing another crazy and blockbuster matchup.
– Regardless of how crazy it sounds I hope that Ilia Topuria will move to the lightweight category. Then we make Alex Volkanovski vs Diego Lopes fight in the featherweight division. Ilia should go from lightweight. I really don’t care that he only defended the belt once. Who cares about that? We are going with the k**wa.
When Matt Serra suggested that, in his opinion, Ilya Topuria should stay in the featherweight category for longer and defend the belt a few times before he decides to change the division to a higher one Joe Rogan said.
– Yes it would be nice, but on the other hand who cares? Go light Ilia, you’re on your way.
