Jon Jones reacted to the defeat of his sparring partner Gable Stevenson in the finals of the NCAA heavyweight wrestling tournament.

Yesterday we informed you about Olympic wrestling gold medalist Gable Stevenson unexpectedly losing in the NCAA finals to Wyatt Hendrickson. Many wrestling insiders including Daniel Cormier considered this one of the biggest surprises in the history of American wrestling at the college level.

Jon Jones reacted to the defeat of Stevenson, who has helped the UFC champion more than once during training camps for fights. Bones sided with his colleague and supported him after a painful loss in the final seconds of the final bout.

– I am proud of my brother. This defeat doesn’t define anything. It’s his work ethic, fighting heart and personality that say it all about him. He is one of the hardest working, impressive young men I have met in a long time. He is climbing higher and higher.

For the 24-year-old Stevenson, it was his last appearance in wrestling at the college level. The wrestler returned to the University of Minnesota after an unsuccessful adventure in American soccer. It is possible that in the future we will see Stevenson working towards making his professional MMA debut.
