Will Jorge Masvidal fight at the GROMDA gala? CEO Mariusz Grabowski comments on the topic of engaging a big UFC star.
The GROMDA organization’s upcoming gala will take place on Friday, December 5. The GROMDA 23 event will feature, among others, the blockbuster Balboa vs. Straw matchup. Scarface and Gorilla will also return to action, and Heavy Heart, the nemesis of Polish fighters, will also check in the ring.
Mariusz Grabowski president of the GROMDA organization was a guest in the FanSport studio where he announced an event advertised with the slogan “Street Karma.” During the long conversation, the head of GROMDA referred, among other things, to the return of freaks to KSW.
At one point Mariusz Grabowski brought up the subject of fighters who approach him with a desire to perform in a 4-on-4 ring. It turns out that in addition to the BKFC champions, the head of the GROMDA organization was also approached by people representing Jorge Masvidal.
Mariusz Grabowski revealed in a recent interview that a big star may fight in the GROMDA organization in the future. Who is he talking about? Well, rumor has it that Jorge Masvidal, whose team has been in contact with Grabowski, is interested in fighting in the Polish federation.
– I will also tell you such an interesting fact. It is known that GROMDA is already known not only in Europe, but also in the world. BKFC champions come forward to fight at the GROMDA gala. One more thing I’ll tell you, big names are also coming forward, it is known that already with the past, but also from the UFC heard back from someone from Jorge Masvidal’s team.
Interviewer Michal Tuszynski asked if it was actually true that people representing Jorge Masvidal had come forward? The reporter added that this would be bombastic information. The head of the GROMDA organization replied.
– Well, yes, but, you know, you also have to measure your strength against your intentions. I keep saying that it’s not an art to pay out an unknown amount of money once and that’s it. Now I’m also looking at the fact that someone thinks that if he creates one fight he will crash the system. It doesn’t work that way. The same in this case. I don’t want to get ahead of the game here either and overpay because that’s not the way to go. For such big names, for such amounts of money, it is clear that the price is also a little out of the market for us to pay such a price. Perhaps some federation in Poland will be able to afford to attract this Masvidal, but in our case it is still too high.
Chairman Grabowski explained that while there are opportunities to hire big names, at this point engaging a star would not pin down financially.
