Martin Bakole and Joseph Parker met in the second fight of the evening of the boxing gala in Riyadh. At stake in the duel was the interim WBO heavyweight championship belt. The fight was contracted for twelve rounds.

Joseph Parker was originally scheduled to face Daniel Dubois, but the Englishman fell ill the day before the gala and had to withdraw from the event. Bakole flew to Riyadh, where he weighed in the day before the clash, as much as 143 kilograms.

Joseph Parker started with good straight shots. Martin Bakole was very static, basically watching what his rival was doing and only defending himself. Both fighters hit with short straights. Single punches and little speed. Good action by Bakole at the end of the round.

Good work by the New Zealander, who turned up the tempo and hit several times. Bakole responded and blood poured from Parker’s nose. Joseph Parker hit the top of his rival’s head with a powerful right. Martin Bakole staggered, danced and fell to the boards. It is after the fight. Amazingly Joseph Parker knocked out Martin Bakole in the second round.
