Karlos Vemola compared Oktagon MMA and KSW: “Today you can see the gap”

Karlos Vemola compared Oktagon MMA and KSW. The champion of the Czech-Slovak organization in the welterweight category admitted that currently a gulf separates them.

Karlos Vemola is undoubtedly the biggest star in Czech MMA. The extremely experienced 39-year-old has recorded 45 fights in professional MMA. Vemola has built a name for himself with seven quick and impressive wins recorded in two years at galas in the British Isles.

Vemola quickly signed a contract with the UFC, and although he didn’t achieve success there, he made a name for himself very quickly, and today is regarded as an MMA pioneer across our southern border. The Oktagon MMA champion in the welterweight category was present at the KSW 99 gala where he cheered on his countrymen. In an interview with a journalist, Vemola compared the level of Oktagon MMA and KSW.

– KSW has great fighters, but I’m happy to be where I am. This evening confirmed it, because last week I was at the Oktagon event, where there were 60,000 people, and today they could be counted in the hundreds. This worries me, because I wish (every organization) our entire sport to grow. Both the Oktagon and KSW and others, but today you can see the gap between them. I am happy to be where I am.

During an interview with NovaTV, Karlos Vemola also mentioned past offers from the KSW federation. The Czech is happy with his current position however, he admitted that he had hoped in the past for a skirmish with Mariusz Pudzianowski.

– KSW would certainly be one of the challenges in my career, but the only fighter I wanted to fight there was Mariusz Pudzianowski. And that’s because size doesn’t matter. However, it was conveyed to me that he did not want to fight me. I didn’t understand why. After all, I would be an easy rival for him. Anyway sia, he is an icon of the sport.

The fight with Pudzian was not the only offer Vemola received. There was also the topic of a duel with Michal Materla. When asked about Mamed Khalidov, he made it clear that he would not want to fight the KSW legend. This is because Karlos considers Mamed to be a fighter who was a role model for him.

– There were offers to fight Materla, but unfortunately he is injured and cannot fight. Mamed Khalidov? He is someone I would rather not fight, because he was a role model for me.
