Khabib Nurmagomedov addressed Dana White’s words regarding the reasons for ending his career. The former UFC champion did not hide his indignation after the organization’s chief’s recent statements and in strong words accused him of passing the truth.
“The Eagle” ended his sports career after his victory over Justin Gaethje at UFC 254. A few months earlier, the Dagestan’s father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, who was both his coach and the most important figure in his sports life, had died. After the win, Khabib admitted that he made a promise to his mother that he would never step into the octagon again.
Despite a number of lucrative offers from the UFC, Nurmagomedov remained defiant and chose not to return to competition. In 2022, he was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame along with his longtime friend and clubmate Daniel Cormier.
However, the topic of Nurmagomedov’s abrupt end to his career regularly returns in the media. Recently, Dana White spoke out, suggesting in an interview that the Dagestan left the UFC, among other reasons, because after his fight with Conor McGregor he made a huge amount of money while touring Muslim countries.
Khabib did not have to wait long for a response. The former UFC champion addressed White’s words in a report on Instagram.
– Sometimes I read such headlines on the Internet. I’m usually not a person who comments on every internet sh*t, but when Dana says such things, then it spreads everywhere, ” Nurmagomedov wrote.
– Let me just say this: I swear by Allah, this is an absolute lie. No one ever gave me the millions, and what they write that I left the sport because I made a lot of money is also not true. The whole world knows the real reason.
– I have said this many times before and there is no need for me to repeat it again.
At this point, Dana White has not publicly addressed the former UFC champion’s strong response.
