Khamzat Chimaev totally dominated Dricus Du Plessis in the UFC 319 evening fight and became the new UFC middleweight champion.

Dricus Du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev faced each other in the fight of the evening at UFC 319 in Chicago. It was a bout for the UFC middleweight division championship belt, and consequently it was contracted for five rounds.

Although Dricus Du Plessis had successful title defenses to his credit prior to this fight, he was not the favorite of the skirmish with the Chechen-born wrestler. Both fighters were extremely combative and promised to win before time.

Khamzat Chimaev started with a kick to the torso, however, after a while he got into his rival’s legs and quickly obtained an overthrow. Dricus Du Plessis tried to grab his rival’s head and fasten the choke however nothing came of it. Chimaev circumvented the position and pinned the crucifix. The champion in a very difficult situation early in the clash. Du Plessis gets out of trouble, however, Khamzat continues to work from the top preventing the African from performing a sweep. The fighter from Chechnya calmly works and doesn’t rush, however, it’s worth noting that Chimaev doesn’t dissolve his hands, so he doesn’t inflict damage on his opponent. However, the champion is completely unable to cope with the wrestling pressure and does not get out of the crucifix. Unexpectedly, Du Plessis managed to slip enough that Chimaev, making an attempt to enter the dosad, lost a good position, although he is still behind the champion’s back.

The fighters battled in the stand-up for several seconds, however, Chimaev went for an overthrow and quickly obtained it. Total domination of the contender for the championship belt. The wrestler representing the United Arab Emirates keeps his rival on the mat at all costs. In the middle of the fifth round Du Plessis was on top for a moment, however, he took a risk wanted to pin a guillotine and lost the position. Referee Goddard elevated the fighters to standup where Du Plessis hit and after a moment of boilerplate found himself on top on the ground. The African, however, hurried up as after a few successful elbows he moved to get a choke from behind which Khamzat easily defended. End of fight. Khamzat Chimaev defeated Dricus Du Plessis by unanimous decision of the judges.
