Khamzat Chimaev confidently defeated Robert Whittaker and recorded a big rise in the UFC middle category ranking.
Khamzat Chimaev was ranked a lowly thirteenth in the UFC‘s middleweight rankings. Of course, no one expected Borz to rank higher, as the Chechen-born fighter actually had only one fight in this weight division to his credit.
With an impressive and quick win over Robert Whittaker, Khamzat Chimaev saw a big rise in the UFC rankings. Chimaev has jumped to the top and is currently ranked third in the UFC rankings in the up to 84 kilogram category.
This means that only current champion Dricus Du Plessis and two former champions, Sean Strickland and Israel Adesanya, are ranked ahead of Khamzat. Chimaev, of course, immediately demanded a fight for the championship belt however, the UFC will first arrange a rematch between Du Plessis and Strickland.
