Mateusz Kisielewski visited the Fansport TV studio ahead of the King’s Arena 4 event. In his conversation with Michał Tuszyński, a very Łódź-specific topic also came up—the city’s division along sports-fan lines and a question that might prove particularly perplexing to an outsider.
The ŁKS Łódź fighter will take the ring this Saturday in the main event of King’s Arena 4. This will be his third bout for the organization. Previously, Kisielewski knocked out Gabriel Ruiz and then defeated Daniel Skibiński by decision. Now he’ll face Wawrzyniec Bartnik, and the fact that the bout will take place in Mateusz’s hometown of Łódź adds extra significance to the matchup.
Widzew or ŁKS? Kisielewski has some advice for the visitors
For years, Łódź has been associated with a deep divide among sports fans. The question “Widzew or ŁKS?” can therefore come up very quickly, and giving an answer in the wrong place isn’t always the best idea.
Michał Tuszyński of Fansport TV asked Kisielewski how someone who is completely unfamiliar with local conditions should behave in such a situation.
– Pfff… Listen, that’s so funny you asked that. “It’s amazing,” replied the hero of King’s Arena 4, grinning from ear to ear. “I don’t want to jinx it… but we have an idea for an app where you open it on your phone and look… Someone asks you, “Hold on, I just need to answer this call…,” you open the app, select the area you’re in, and it shows you: “Here’s where you need to say you’re in favor of this,” Mateusz shared his interesting idea.
After a moment, however, the contestant offered a much simpler solution.
” But generally speaking, if you’re asking about Łódź, it’s better to say you don’t root for any team,” Mateusz added with a laugh. “ I mean, if you don’t root for a team. If you do root for a team and are willing to take the risk, then go for it…” But this is the kind of city where risk is part of everyday life.
Kisielewski, of course, can count on strong support from his friends and fans. Interest in his performance is expected to be very high, and the athlete revealed that ticket sales are in full swing.
– Yeah, I’m hoping so, too. Tickets are still coming in. A lot have already been sold. I don’t know exactly how many, because people are constantly calling and texting. I’ve distanced myself from it—I don’t feel like delivering them anymore, because I’ve already delivered so many. Now I’ve enlisted my family and friends to help with this.
Mateusz expects that on the day of the gala, the stands may be practically filled to capacity.
– I think the whole arena will be packed. From what I hear, there aren’t many seats left. I’m really looking forward to seeing what kind of “buzz” there’ll be.
Kisielewski has fought before in Piotrków Trybunalski, which is not far from Łódź. This time, however, he will be fighting right in front of his home crowd, which means even greater support from his community. As he himself emphasized in an interview, he is not afraid of the pressure that comes with it.
