Ahead of his next fight, Krystian Szczęsny spoke not only about his preparations, but also about his mindset and approach to life. The fighter from Częstochowa makes no secret of the fact that he believes in his abilities, though at the same time he realizes that in sports, nothing can be taken for granted.

Szczęsny has a professional record of 6-4, with all six of his wins coming by knockout. His last two fights, however, did not go his way, so he is now hoping to get back on the winning track. He’ll get his chance on October 3 in Łódź at King’s Arena 4, where he’ll face Dawid Borzęcki.

For the fighter from Częstochowa, this will be an opportunity not only to snap his losing streak, but also to showcase the style he’s best known for—aggressive, offensive MMA focused on finishing the fight early.

Szczęsny on self-confidence: “Nothing is 100% certain”

A post by Krystian Szczęsny appeared on King’s Arena’s social media, in which he spoke at length about his approach to fighting and how Poles view self-confidence.

– It seems to me that we, as Poles… I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I certainly have—it works like this… What does your grandma always tell you? “Well, but be modest so people don’t notice you.” And you’re always in this “energy of self-deprecation.” Maybe that’s why people are just modest. Is that a bad thing? Well, as long as it’s not taken to extremes, definitely not. Like when you’re afraid to say, “Yes, I’m prepared enough to know that I can win this fight—I will win this fight.”

Szczęsny pointed out, however, that believing in one’s own abilities does not mean being blindly certain of the outcome.

– Well, but it’s always fifty-fifty. You go out, you trip, you break your leg. Nothing in life is ever 100% certain.

The athlete also touched on a more personal topic and spoke about his relationship with God. He admitted that there was a time in his life when he drifted away from his faith, but over time he began to view difficult experiences differently.

– Even though there was a time in my life when I, so to speak, lost God from my heart—we couldn’t quite see eye to eye, and I was a little resentful of what was happening to me… But at some point in my life, I realized that it’s not about taking offense, because those situations opened up great opportunities for me to experience wonderful things. There’s nothing wrong with getting lost. The important thing is to find your way back.

Ahead of King’s Arena 4, Szczęsny clearly wants to approach this next challenge with a clear head and strong confidence in his own abilities. Now it remains to be seen whether this will translate into an end to his losing streak and another spectacular victory by stoppage.
